gradientThe views from the bridge when walking across the Columbia River are so gorgeous. The captivating mountain ranges watching over the valley are always a sight to behold, but the downwards view of land gradually turning into water is just as stunning of a sight.

Just spent a fabulous long weekend amongst the beauty of nature, camping with friends at Syringa National Park (a short 20 km drive from Castlegar). In order to really explain the beauty we get to experience by living here in the West Kootenays, I must quote my good friend Heather: “we live in a postcard.”

Life can get away from us sometimes… that’s why it is so important to take time to pause and celebrate the small victories. Small victories from this past week: sun beams that have been peeking out from behind the clouds almost every sunset this week, vanilla iced red velvet cupcakes topped with chocolate dipped cherries at MarketFest, feeling patriotic seeing Canada’s entrance at the opening ceremony for London 2012 summer Olympics, one of the gorgeous views of the Columbia River from a recent walk, midnight drinks outside with loved ones in some soft candlelight. What small victories do you have to celebrate this week?
