eastward bound – huge news

27 Feb

NMF+ETSY2Sharing something super special with you today; I can’t believe I haven’t shouted this amazing news from every mountaintop in Canada yet! I hinted at the possibility of this news back in December with my post about meeting the ladies of Etsy Canada.  Shortly before the New Year, Elisabetta of Etsy CA personally invited me to apply to a special first time ETSY section at the Spring Toronto One of a Kind Show! I did an OOAK show once before in Vancouver, but it wasn’t halfway across the country, nor did it have anywhere near the attendance level of the long running Toronto Show. Screen Shot 2013-02-16 at 10.52.31 AMAfter a bit of deliberation, my beau and I decided that it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up, and that even though every big show I do is scary, we always make it out inspired, profitable and with a bigger and better business. At the end of January I got an acceptance letter from ETSY Canada & OOAK; I was selected as one of their 40 Canadian designers to be part of their special ETSY section!!! It’s going to be a busy next few weeks leading up to our flight out east, but I can’t wait to see where this opportunity takes nature’s my friend. tixbuttonS13If you are in the Toronto area, you better come visit me! taking the plunge

6 Feb

takingtheplunge2Hello lovelies! I missed seeing your cute faces around these parts! It is a new month, and I feel like a new me; the beginning of 2013 was quite the challenge, as you know from my last post,  so I can’t tell you how good it feels to be healthy again, back in the studio, and ready to create! Being down for the count last month made me do some serious thinking, and after a long deliberation with my beau John, some good chats with our supportive parents and a long deep look into my creative soul, I decided to quit my part-time job. Life is too short to dance around your dreams… you ought to live them; I want nothing more than to have art be my number one focus, and the only way to do that is to take the plunge. I’m part of some really exciting shows coming up this spring (I can’t wait to tell you more about them very soon), I’m working on two adorable commissions right now, and am super stoked to finally make time to draw out some imagery that has been lingering in my mind.TAKINGTHEPLUNGEYour readership means tons to me, but I am also fortunate to have a lot of you directly support my art practice. You have no idea how exciting it is every time I get to package up my artwork for someone special! To encourage more of you to collect some nature’s my friend creations, type “TAKINGTHEPLUNGE” during checkout in the shop and save 20%!!! Win, win. The code will be good until Valentine’s Day! Here’s to an exciting new adventure, hope you’re ready to come along for the ride!
