I think one of the hardest things about being accepted to OOAK, or any REALLY big art expo or market, are all of the small booth & business details that need to get taken care of. The artwork of even the most talented artist in the world won’t sell or be showcased properly, if it is being hung and sold in a dis-organized and poorly prepared booth. So lately, although it isn’t the most fun, I have been taking care of “business.” Recently my kraft brown recycled paper shopping bags arrived, so I’ve had my trusty hand carved rubber logo stamps from the amazing carver Chantal Vincent and my self-inking website stamp, working hard.
There are two different sizes of paper bags: one for smaller items like coasters, pockets mirrors, buttons, magnets and 5″x7″ prints, while the larger ones can hold 8″x10″ prints and some smaller framed pieces.
I decided to stamp all of my bags instead of paying double for the company to have my logo digitally printed on them: it reinforces my nature as a printmaker as well as the fact that my items are all handmade, which is extremely important to me.
