Here is a sneak peek into some of the hard work that my father and I were doing just last week, during my secret getaway weekend: milling and sanding a giant pile of gorgeous cedar wood boards.

I loved watching the saw dust float softly to the ground like snow, and I could hardly breathe in enough of that incredible smell of fresh cut cedar. Woodworking with my father brings back fond memories of childhood when we first built the cabin; it is fun to see us so many years later, still enjoying getting our hands dirty together. Having this project come to fruition is such an exciting step forward for my art business! There is still a good amount of work to be done, but when it is complete, you will see that it was worth all of the effort.

This weekend away was an incredible balance of relaxation and preparation. My fiance and I made a secret trip to visit my parents: I was designing and creating some new things with my father (building some things for upcoming Holiday markets… more to share later), chatting and eating delicious food with my mother, and enjoying some quiet undisturbed time away with John in the place where we fell in love and first lived together. This photo represents how I feel right now: calm, centered, relaxed, focused, enlightened, aware, patient and content. How was your weekend?

29 AugAs I mentioned in my post yesterday, my beau and I rode our bikes around town on the weekend to check out the local sculpturewalk . There were far too many gorgeous photos from the day to share in one post, so here is the second half of my camera snaps:
