This Christmas, John gifted me the Audubon Society’s chirping bird clock! Each hour has it’s own unique North American bird call, and it also has a light sensor so that the little birdies don’t sing through the late hours of the night while you’re asleep. It has been placed at the top of my studio wall where my bear skeleton clock used to hang (which now happily ticks in the kitchen). I’ve really enjoyed hearing little reminders of nature every hour as I work away in the studio. A few of my favorite calls so far: Song Sparrow, Purple Martin & Yellow Warbler.

Oh! My Mom gave my Dad one of those clocks for Christmas a few years back. He LOVES it! One year, while they were in the process of redecorating his office, all of his belongings were temporarily placed in my old bedroom. Of course, I was unaware of this during a visit home. You can imagine my surprise/horror when, at 11:00 PM & snuggled in my old bed, the shrieking of a bird woke me up. Needless to say, I was panic stricken. And after panic, a cold sweat followed. Unfortunately, my Dad’s clock was made PRIOR to the inclusion of a light sensor.
So glad you are enjoying it. It really is quite lovely to hear the bird calls! Well, at least during daylight hours.
