I can’t believe how fast time has flown, and that fact that it is July has my mind boggled. This morning John and I are headed up the Jasper highway for a stay at his family cottage, then do a trip through Edmonton and Camrose to see his family and friends. Come the weekend, we are packing up and headed through Calgary on our way to my cabin in Invermere, BC for my two week exhibition and some much deserved R & R with Johnny by the lake. After a week, he is flying home, while I am staying for another 3 weeks to do some demos at Blackstar studio & gallery, teach workshops and also participate in a local arts tour. Although I am excited to relax and be on somewhat of a vacation, I am by no means disconnected: my etsy shop has gone mobile, so I am still happily filling orders plus I am doing A LOT art wise, so I’ll do my best to document my fantastic adventures over the next 5 weeks. With that, I’ll leave you with a newly finished piece, one of the half dozen altered book works I’ve created for my show.

The poem reads “I kissed the middle of the night in a feathered flash. a pilot in the perfect commute” with the words connected together as if they were a constellation. The accompanying imagery features and gorgeous barn owl flying in the night. It is a mixed media piece done with acrylic, watercolour and gouache onto a found hardcover book. This is one of my favorite pieces in the entire show and also fitting to share at the moment, since I am flying to another nest for a several weeks.
